In mid-March it seemed like the decision
to cancel the festival was well considered and deliberated. Now it
seems like a no-brainer. Our festival is a big party in which music is the
guest of honor. But
the festival budget also includes administrative costs to pay part of
the Friends director's salary and some amount designated to the
maintenance of Thespian Hall, one of three historic
properties the Friends own. The Big Muddy barbecue is the
Friends only major fund raiser of the year. We're hoping the barbecue
will happen some other time later this year.
We hope many who have purchased tickets in advance will choose
to make them a donation to the festival and the Friends in the this
extraordinary time. We know musicians all over are seeing their
gigs vanish, so we plan to help out as much as we can.
