Missouri Folk Arts Program

One of the highlights of our festival has been the presentation from the Missouri Folk Arts masters/apprentices program. This year, program directors Lisa Higgins and Deborah Bailey are planning a more intimate workshop format presenting a type of interview with each of the crafters and musicians. This would promote more direct interaction with audience members and encourage their learning. So far, artists planning to participate include cowboy poet and saddlemaker Martin Bergin; Christa Robbins for Kloppelei (German lace), and John Kumia for Hawaiian lei-making; and National Heritage Fellowship Award winner Bob Holt, master of Ozark old time fiddling.
