French was a dominant culture in North America by middle of the 18th Century, and French settlements are the oldest in Missouri. Through the lens of traditional music, Dennis Stroughmatt has traced the linkage of these cultural strains throughout the continent and across the ocean. His band Creole Stomp represents the amalgamation of those strains in Lower Louisiana.
