The repertoire and style of Gary Kirkland and dobroist Bob Tripp draw from the early days when country music emerged on phonograph recordings and the new medium of radio. For example, though often thought of as pure standard bearers of their styles, Jimmie Rodgers blended the blues and Swiss yodeling with his singing, and Bill Monroe developed a super-charged version of the traditional string band. Gary's reach for the honest emotion and strength from this older style stand the test of time.
